Canadian War Stories covers 10 major battles or campaigns starting with the Boer War and ending with peacekeeping. The book gives the overall picture and strategy followed by the individual soldier, sailor or airman's account. Aimed at a grade 10 reading level, the book will include an overall critique by two former soldiers, one a major and one a private so the reader gets two points of view. Roughly half the book is made up of personal stories.

The sections are as follows:

The Boer War and the Battle of Paardeberg
The Newfoundland Regiment at the Somme
The Battle of Vimy Ridge
The Halifax Explosion
Hong Kong
Dieppe
Battle of the Atlantic
Battle of Britain
Normandy invasion and the push to Holland
Korea

Moments that haunt me forever. On October 23, 1952 at 5:40 p.m. the RCR were attacked on Hill 355. The Chinese came in under a heavy artillery barrage, overran part of Baker Company, and shared the sharp end for five or six hours with Canadian soldiers. The RCR had 18 killed and 35 wounded. Fourteen Canadians were taken prisoner.

A New Brunswick native, Robert Turner joined the army in 1951 and served with the RCR for 10 years. He qualified as a paratrooper after he returned from Korea. After discharge as a corporal, he became a sales manager and then went into business on his own. He died in the summer of 2005 in his 77th year.
